Fostering Hope Through Knowledge and Love

Education is one of the main pillars of SCMM's work. The Sisters believe that education is the path to developing well-rounded individuals who are intellectually intelligent, spiritually mature, and caring towards others. To date, SCMM Indonesia manages two high school, five junior high schools, seventh elementary schools, and thirteen kindergartens. In each educational institution, the sisters, together with teachers and educators, are committed to providing a learning environment that is full of love, discipline, and rooted in Christian values. Children and teenagers are guided to grow into individuals of character, faith, and compassion for others. Through education, the sisters help ignite new hope for the younger generation, so that they may become bearers of peace and goodness in society.

As a religious congregation that upholds the value of compassion, the education provided by the SCMM Sisters aims not only to transfer knowledge, but also to shape character and spirituality. The SCMM education system in Indonesia ranges from early childhood education to high school, with an approach tailored to the psychological and spiritual development stages of the students.

The main uniqueness of SCMM education in Indonesai lies in the use of the SCMM character education guidebook, known as “Serfisona/MAP/Cordiam”. This book serves as the basis for teaching from early childhood education to high school. The SCMM character education book contains core values in line with the spirit of SCMM: compassion, simplicity, humility, sisterhood, unity, and service. These values are used as guidelines in building the character of students holistically, covering the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.

At the early childhood education level, SCMM character education books are used to guide children in learning basic values of love and service through fun, creative, and interactive learning. Education at this stage instills spiritual and character foundations such as love, gratitude, togetherness, and humility naturally through learning experiences. This method supports the development of emotional and social intelligence along with cognitive and motor aspects so that students grow into individuals with character and holistic development.

Entering kindergarten, learning becomes more systematic with the addition of strengthening spiritual and moral values through prayer, reflection, and guided social interaction activities. Children are encouraged to develop empathy and a sense of brotherhood, while maintaining cheerfulness and creativity in accordance with the SCMM character education book guidelines.

At the elementary school level, education focuses on mastering basic academics integrated with character and spiritual education. The SCMM character education book is the main guide for instilling the values of compassion, simplicity, sisterhood, and service in a balanced manner with the improvement of children's intellectual abilities.

Furthermore, at junior high and high school levels, education becomes more in-depth and complex. Students are prepared to become mature individuals who are ready to take responsibility in social and spiritual matters. Academic material is combined with character building based on the values of Misericordia, namely compassion, simplicity, brotherhood, and service, which are taught continuously through the SCMM character education book. This holistic teaching method ensures that students excel in science and are spiritually and morally mature in accordance with the spirit of SCMM.
