of our Lady Mother of Mercy

Philippines - Social Project

Rooted in the charism of mercy and compassion, the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of Mercy (SCMM) established the Saint Vincent de Paul Person with Disability Livelihood Center in Lupao, Nueva Ecija, as a concrete manifestation of their enduring commitment to serve those in need especially persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Inspired by the example of St. Vincent de Paul, patron of charitable works, the apostolate seeks to build a Christ-centered community that empowers persons with disabilities to discover their God-given potential, embrace their dignity, and take their rightful place in society. Through faith formation, skills training, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, the Center helps each individual grow in confidence, purpose, and hope.

Since its founding, the Center has stood as a beacon of inclusion and compassion and a place where every person is welcomed, valued, and encouraged to live a meaningful, faith-filled life. Guided by the spirit of charity, the apostolate continues to make the love and mercy of Christ visible in the world, transforming lives through service that uplifts, restores, and inspires.

Programs and Services

To nurture the spiritual growth of persons with disabilities, the sisters offer a program of catechesis designed to deepen their personal relationship with God and strengthen their understanding of the Catholic faith. The sessions provide a welcoming space for prayer, reflection, and learning, helping participants recognize God’s presence in their daily lives. To encourage active participation and leadership, each member takes turns leading the community in opening and closing prayers, an experience that fosters confidence, faith, and a sense of shared responsibility.

The Center also provides skills training and livelihood programs to promote self-reliance and enhance the dignity of persons with disabilities. Through hands-on workshops and guided learning, participants are trained in various crafts and income-generating activities suited to their abilities and interests. These programs not only develop practical skills but also foster confidence, discipline, and a sense of accomplishment. By empowering them to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities, the Center helps each individual realize their potential and embrace work as a form of service and participation in God’s creative mission.

Through these integrated programs, the Saint Vincent de Paul Person with Disability Livelihood Center continues to embody the compassionate mission of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of Mercy (SCMM). By nurturing both the spiritual and human potential of persons with disabilities, the Center becomes a living witness to God’s love made present in acts of mercy. Each transformed life stands as a testament to the power of faith, compassion, and community illuminating the truth that every person, regardless of ability, has a unique role in building a more just, caring, and Christ-centered world.
