The health care ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of Mercy of Timor Leste Region, is one of the concrete actions in serving those in need. Healthcare is not just a professional duty, but also a call of faith to spread God's compassion to those who are sick. "When I was sick, you visited me." These words of Jesus give the sisters a strong encouragement to care for those who need healthcare services. Through this service, the sisters desire to bring healing love to everyone who suffers. They emulate Jesus who healed those who were sick. Through this service, the sisters not only heal the body, but also nurture hope and restore the souls of those who suffer.
In this field of service, the sisters have a clinic called the Mother of Mercy Clinic, located in the St. Yohanes Community - Akadiruhun. It is a very simple clinic. Here we help people who are physically ill, provide free medical treatment for those who cannot afford to pay, and provide nutritious food supplements for malnourished children. In addition, we also provide health education for mothers to pay attention to their personal hygiene and health and that of their environment.
The sisters strive to ensure that everyone who comes to them not only experiences physical healing but also feels God's compassion strengthening their souls. Although the sisters provide care to the sick, it is God who heals them. Therefore, the sisters continue to strive to welcome the sick who come for treatment at the SCMM clinic with a gentle and friendly attitude, so that through our service they may feel the presence of Jesus, who is full of compassion and who heals them.
