Living Mercy in Communion
The charism of living mercy through charity is at the heart of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of Mercy. It becomes even more alive when shared with lay people who wish to walk side by side with the sisters, witnessing God's love in every gesture.
Movement of Mercy
In Brazil, more than 60 people participate in the Movement of Mercy, organized in small groups in Santa Rita, Várzea Nova, Heitel Santiago, Bayeux, Cabedelo, and Ibó. Each group meets at its own pace, shares life, supports one another, and brings the spirituality of the congregation into their families, communities, and local realities.
Different forms of connection
In the Netherlands, groups such as Barach, the Icon Workshop, and the Bezield Verband bring people together around prayer, art, and service, while in Indonesia, the Daughters of Mercy and Friends of the Mission directly assist the sisters in their work. Each group has its own way of living the charism, but they all share the same values: solidarity, compassion, and love of neighbor.
An Extension of the Congregation
These connections show how the charism of mercy is lived in concrete and diverse ways, making each lay person an extension of the congregation's mission. They witness to charity in simple and profound gestures, bring hope to the most needy places, and strengthen the presence of the sisters of charity in the world. Being part of this network is to experience the power of communion and to realize that mercy multiplies when lived together.
Together, sisters and lay people form one family moved by mercy, transforming lives and making God's love present everywhere.
