Lent 2026
As we begin Lent on Ash Wednesday, the Holy Father reminds us that every journey of conversion begins by listening; listening to God’s Word and to the cries of those who suffer. In a world filled with many voices, Sacred Scripture helps us discern what truly matters and respond with compassion.
Fasting, he teaches, purifies our desires and awakens in us a deeper hunger for justice. Yet beyond fasting from food, we are called to “disarm our language” — to avoid harsh words, rash judgment, and speaking ill of others. In our convents, families, ministries, and communities, our words must reflect kindness, humility, and respect.
This Lent, may we allow the Lord to purify not only our actions, but also our speech, so that our communities may become places where hope, reconciliation, and welcome truly flourish.
