St. Agnes Community

Location : Jakarta, Indonesia

St. Agnes Community was established on December 28, 1987, in the Teluk Gong area of North Jakarta, which at that time was known as a slum area prone to flooding. The community was founded based on the desire of the SCMM Congregation to have a transit community in the capital city to facilitate domestic and international travel. With the permission of Bishop Leo Sukoto, SJ, and the support of Parish Priest P. S. Andrea, SX, as well as the assistance of the local community, the first two sisters were sent to begin their ministry. They lived in a rented house and served through education, family pastoral care, catechesis and faith formation for children.

In July 1989, the Congregation purchased a convent house at Jl. Moa Blok G II No. 52–5. To this day, the St. Agnes Community remains faithful in continuing its ministry with a spirit of love and dedication. Over time, the sisters built a new building to make it a more suitable, comfortable, and supportive place for their lives and ministry.

The ministry of the Sisters of the St. Agnes Community continues to grow with a spirit of love and devotion. They serve with love through education, accompanying the elderly at St. Anna Nursing Home, caring for children at the Orphanage, and providing pastoral care for the faithful. Through this work, they continue to bring God's love and compassion to the community.
