St. Paul Community

Location : Waipaddi, Indonesia

The St. Paul community was founded on 14 September 1991 in response to pastoral, social and educational needs. Father Peter Redenhebber, CSsR, the pastor of Waipaddi Parish, initiated the establishment of this community and requested assistance from the Provincial Leadership Council of SCMM, led at that time by Sr. Rosalina Kusnoharjono, SCMM. The request was welcomed. The first two sisters, Sr. Laurensia Sidabutar and Sr. Gertruda Fau, were sent to begin their ministry.

Initially, the community's ministry focused on two main areas: health and education.

The sisters face several challenges including limited transportation, language barriers, and harsh natural conditions.Nevertheless, the sisters remained committed in serving those in need. In 1992, the health clinic was officially handed over to SCMM, with construction support provided by Father Peter and other donors. Over time, the community continued to grow. In 1995, various new facilities were built, including the Bunda Nirmala orphanage and kindergarten. In 1996, the road between Waipaddi and Waikabubak was repaired to allow vehicles to pass. The Sisters are active in providing family pastoral care, catechesis and Legion of Mary. Thanks to the Sisters' perseverance and loyalty in their ministry, the St Paul community in Waipaddi has succeeded in effecting real change in terms of education, health and faith. The dedication of the Sisters, from the pioneers to the current generation, is tangible proof of God's love for those in greatest need.
