SCMM Congregation began its pastoral work in the Diocese of Banjarmasin on August 7, 2004, at the invitation of Mgr. F.X. Prajasuta, MSF, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Banjarmasin. The presence of the sisters was a response to the need for educational development in the region. Two pioneer sisters, Sr. Dafrosa Fau, SCMM and Sr. Angelbertha Abi, SCMM, began their ministry at Marsudi Wiyata Elementary and Junior High School in Banjarmasin. With a high spirit of service, they were actively involved in education and pastoral ministry.
On July 7, 2006, the Marsudi Wiyata Foundation handed over the management of the school to SCMM under the auspices of the ANAWIM Foundation. Since then, the name of the school has been changed to St. Angela Elementary and Junior High School in Banjarmasin.
The presence of the SCMM Sisters has made a significant contribution to the advancement of Catholic education in Banjarmasin. Through their educational and pastoral work, the SCMM Sisters continue to spread the love of Christ with a spirit of compassion.
