Hati Kudus Community

Location : Sibolga, Indonesia

The presence of the SCMM Sisters in Sibolga began with a request from Father Spanyers OFMCap to the Superior General of SCMM congregation in the Netherlands to open a new convent. This request was accepted, and on May 21, 1930, the seven sisters arrived in Sibolga as pioneers. They lived in a simple wooden house and immediately opened the Mutiara Kindergarten and SR/HIS School. In 1934, they purchased the former hotel grounds to establish the HCS School.

The present of the SCMM community in Sibolga aims to proclaim Christ's love through education and social service. The sisters want to provide faith-based education and form individuals who are faithful, dignified, and supportive. Despite facing financial and facility limitations, they continue to carry out their mission with a spirit of service and dedication.

The sisters not only teach but also engage in social and pastoral activities, such as visiting the sick, caring for boarding school children, and organizing skills courses and church activities. Today, SCMM's work in Sibolga is growing rapidly with the establishment of its own foundation, which manages schools from kindergarten to high school, as well as a girls' dormitory, a canteen, and a clothing factory as a form of loving service to the community.
