St. Maria Community

Location : Pematang Siantar, Indonesia

St. Maria Community in Pematang Siantar was established on March 17, 1989, in response to the need for a larger training center for the SCMM sisters. Therefore, the Provincial Leadership Council decided to build a new community that could accommodate trainers and sisters who were studying.

The purpose of establishing this community was to provide a place for spiritual formation and education for members of the SCMM congregation, as well as a home for sisters who were studying in Pematang Siantar. With the help of Fr. Elias Sembiring, OFMCap, a two-hectare plot of land was purchased, and a community building and novitiate were built based on a design by Br. Anianus Snik, OFMCap.

Today, St. Maria Community has become an important center of activity for the SCMM sisters, especially in the areas of formation, education, and spiritual service. Various provincial activities are held here, such as perpetual vow preparation courses, junior meetings, annual retreats, chapters, and provincial council meetings. In addition, this community is also home to senior sisters, the elderly, and students, who together continue to live out the spirit of service and fidelity in their religious calling.
