St. Maria dari Fatima Community

Location : Banda Aceh, Indonesia

St. Maria dari Fatima Community was founded on July 8, 1985, at the request of Fr. James, SJ, to the SCMM General Council.
The first two sisters sent there, Sr. Sesilia Alamsyah and Sr. Yuliana Luahambowo, began their pastoral and educational work with simple facilities. After a hiatus due to various obstacles, the mission resumed with the construction of a new convent, which was inaugurated on October 31, 1988, marking the official beginning of the community's presence in Banda Aceh.

The community was established to serve the Catholic community in this minority area through education and pastoral work. The presence of the SCMM Sisters is expected to strengthen the faith and provide spiritual guidance to the local community. In addition, this community also serves as a center for religious activities, faith formation, and Christian character development for school children and families around the parish.

In their ministry, the sisters are involved in education at Budi Dharma Kindergarten, Elementary School, Junior High School, and High School, as well as active in family pastoral activities, catechesis, neighborhood prayer groups, and church choirs. To this day, the St. Maria dari Fatima Community remains a tangible manifestation of the dedication and loyalty of the SCMM Sisters in serving with a spirit of love and devotion.
